Watson Converts all Core Material to No Added Formaldehyde (NAF)

Watson and Watson Dispatch are taking an industry-leading environmental position by converting all core material to No Added Formaldehyde (NAF) board. The NAF board will be sourced from Klamath Falls and Medford, Oregon, both located within 500 miles of our Poulsbo, Washington factory. The new core material and the producer's proximity to our manufacturing location benefits end-users seeking lower environmental impact, higher air quality and LEED credits. Customers will begin receiving NAF product as early as August 15, 2016.

Why did Watson Convert to NAF Core Material?

Recent improvements in quality and cost of NAF core material led Watson to be one of the first commercial furniture manufactures to convert all core material to NAF. Even though Watson's manufacturing processes and finished product fall will below acceptable ranges, Watson recognizes that many of our customers may have concerns about the additive impacts of large scale installations that include other products like carpeting, partitioning, and other textiles. Additionally some older buildings may not have the best ventilation and require stricter standards.

Watson Douglas Fir TreesPractical Environmentalism

Watson's sustainability ethic is encompassed in what we call Practical Environmentalism. It's a long-term view of our impact on the community and financial strength. Where most companies make environmental choices only when they don't incur cost, Practical Environmentalism at Watson prioritizes searching for innovative ways to make good environmental choices that are good beyond the bottom line.

At Watson, Your Wellness Matters

Watson’s air quality and off-gassing quotients currently fall within Washington State Division of Safety and Health (DOSH) and BIFMA acceptable ranges for formaldehyde exposure. However, we strive for continuous improvement. Our commitment to Practical Environmentalism requires that we measure our manufacturing materials and processes against the highest standards of care for our employees, our clients and our earth. The conversion to NAF core material exemplifies this commitment.

It's our goal that our customers have the utmost confidence in the quality and sustainability of all Watson products. If you have any questions or comments please let us know
